Day 25 - In a bad mood

So - I feel off the wagon this past weekend.

I have no excuses, no particular reason - I just couldn't muster the energy on Sunday or Monday. For either the workout, or the diet.

I imagine it is mostly me: I need a vacation, I'm still dealing with grief in unexpected pockets, and I have too much on my plate at work. I know a good diet and exercise help me deal with stress and give me the energy to manage ... but ... sometimes it's hard. Especially with days like today, when I really feel hammered AND I did everything right: I got enough sleep, I've eaten well, and I did my workout (and with a great run in a finally cool morning).

Am I the only one that just dreads the kicks? They are seriously kicking my ass, and are really what makes me not look forward to my workouts each morning. When are they going to get easier?

Hmmm. Perhaps I'd better stop whining now.

At least it's a brilliantly beautiful day! And I remember to vote this morning!

  1. I dread the kicks too—mostly b/c they take so much time that I can't finish them in the morning and have to dress out again when I get home at 8:30 or 9 pm to finish them before I can eat.

I hope you can get a break soon, Heather! It always gets better. Just take care of yourself and be mindful of what you're really needing in the moment when things get tough. (It might just be to acknowledge that things are really tough!)

  2. The fact that you keep going despite how difficult it can be is a testament to your deep commitment to care for yourself. You're doing so well!

Are there ways you can give yourself a mini-vacay in the midst of all the stress?

As for the kicks, sometimes I do a few stretches before getting started, and work slowly at making them as high as I can (sometimes I go to fast, feel the strain, and burn out).

Keep it up Heather, and take care. I'm totally cheering for you over here!

  3. We can do the kicks that are in the air together and both think about how we have no idea if we are doing them right.

Things will definitely get better. About day 89 : ). I kid. I kid.

  4. I say falling off the wagon is OK!! :) You deserve a break and a vacation.
Besides, the past week was specially hard with exercises getting harder and the body noticing what is yet to come...

Kicks are tough for me too. By the third set I'm done.

I send you a big hug. Things will get better!!!
